Hear Vikramaditya Prakash in conversation with Christopher Turner, curator of Tropical Modernism: Architecture and Independence.

Chandigarh was the first modernist city to be built from scratch and was intended as a symbol of Nehru’s new India. Prakash, whose father was one of the Indian architects working on the scheme, will discuss the importance and ambiguities of modernism to the post-colonial project.
