The Yinka Ilori Objects Pop-Up returns for the second time to East London, this time at The Hoxton, Shoreditch. Drawing inspiration from West African architecture, Ilori has created a unique retail environment that showcases YIO’s new collection alongside its core range.

Yinka Ilori is a London-based multidisciplinary artist who specialises in storytelling by fusing his British and Nigerian heritage to create new narratives through contemporary art and design. His work is humorous, provocative and fun, bringing traditional Nigerian verbal traditions into playful conversation with contemporary objects and spaces. Through his art, he explores diverse themes that resonate with global audiences. Yinka Ilori Objects is a continuation of design work inspired by his British-Nigerian heritage and childhood. It’s a vibrant celebration of two cultures expressed through abstract, technicolour pattern and contemporary craft. Everyday household items - that evoke memories from his own upbringing - have been reworked as unexpected, colourful artworks. Each piece carries its own narrative and back-story, aiming to instil a sense of optimism and inject joy into people’s lives when they need it the most. Taking over The Garden at The Hoxton, Shoreditch in the heart of East London, the retail design transforms the space and reflects an exploration of how stores can encourage consumers to connect, experience, and discover, inspired by Ilori’s West African heritage. Recalling the houses and mosques found in Burkina Faso, he has developed a typology and design language, translating vernacular architectural forms into colourful display units. The interior is dominated by blues, greens, pinks, and violets, creating a sense of hope and optimism.
