UMPRUM Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague

Since 1885, UMPRUM Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague has been a leading teaching institution in the region. Originally Inspired by the ideas of Gottfried Semper, it was established in the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, thrived during the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic from 1918 to 1938, and managed to establish relevant teaching practice under the conditions imposed on it by the communist totalitarian regime. Roughly 600 students across 28 studios are currently enrolled at UMPRUM. Their education is based on the lasting fundamental principle of the Academy is the individual approach to each student. The aim is to support talent and develop creative skills while emphasizing independent thinking about current issues and collective responsibility for our planet. Prague UMPRUM, as one of the only schools of former post-communist countries, is featured in the index of prestigious European and world art schools.
