Ruth Lloyd is an independent design-led researcher and consultant specialising in textiles, sustainable colour and microbial colourants, exploring how emerging colour technologies can be translated into textile production processes. With a background in printed textiles, Ruth began researching microbial colourants during her MA in Textiles at the Royal College of Art, developing this further through a PhD at Central Saint Martins, UAL, focused on microbial textile printing and industrial textile applications. Her PhD evolved into a funded industry partnership with biotechnology company Colorifix, where she worked embedded within R&D, collaborating across design, science and textile production. Ruth now works independently across research and consultancy, with interests spanning sustainable materials, microbial colour technologies and industrial textile processes.
