'5&20' celebrates Crafts Council's collaboration with Brookfield Properties and our combined milestone anniversaries in 2024: five years of the Brookfield Properties Craft Award and 20 years of the vanguard for international contemporary craft and design, Collect art fair. This one-off celebration show, at 99 Bishopsgate, supported with funding from London EC BID, will exhibit over 30 artworks from Crafts Council collection, with a direct link to Collect. These objects, which form part of the national collection for craft cared for by Crafts Council, include ceramics, jewellery, glass, bronze, vibrant textile art and dramatic hand painted wall hangings. We also present a solo exhibition of works by Halima Cassell MBE, nearby at 30 Fenchurch Street. Recognised as one of the most distinctive and dynamic sculptural ceramicists in the UK, Cassell was announced as the winner of the 2024 Brookfield Properties Craft Award in March 2024. Born in1975 in Kashmir, growing up in Manchester and now living in Shropshire, Cassell’s multi-cultural background is tangibly present in her work, which is held in numerous public and private collections worldwide, including the Victoria & Albert Museum and The Hepworth Wakefield, among others.
