London-based designer, Marina Garlo presents an exclusive installation of her debut piece GARLO I Chaise Longue. The interactive sculpture is inspired by the stars and aims to create a connection between the viewer and an existence that is usually light-years away.
The Bankside-located Hilton flagship will be installing the designer’s debut piece, the GARLO I Chaise Longue, in the hotel’s lobby throughout the London Design Festival for guests and visitors to experience. A harmonious blend of a light, art installation and a furniture piece, the GARLO I offers guests the chance to both view and physically interact with the piece. The hand-made art piece is comprised of matt black steel poles with a base of Fenix and nylon lightbulbs (LEDs). The innovative shock absorbing system means the poles adapt to the body’s shape making it a comfortable lounging experience for all. Marina Garlo aims to bring her audience into closer contact with the power of light by giving radiance to unexpected, utilitarian items. Her goal is to enable viewers to feel light on a more spiritual level, for light to become part of them and for them to become part of light. Hilton London Bankside is situated in the vibrant cultural hub of London’s Bankside (a London Design Festival Design District), moments from major transport links and iconic London attractions, including the Tate Modern, The Shard, Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, and the foodie favourite, Borough Market. Hilton London Bankside’s prime location offers guests an incredible base from which to explore London during London Design Festival.
