Poltrona Frau presents ‘Squash’, the award-winning collection by Faye Toogood within an immersive, tactile installation, dubbed 'A Squashed Space'. The installation is an immersive and playful expression of these historical references, pairing Toogood’s restless experimentation with the brand's unrivalled leathercraft.

For London Design Festival 2024, Faye Toogood takes over the Poltrona Frau flagship store in Fulham Road, with a bold installation celebrating the award-winning Squash collection, first presented during Milan Design Week earlier this year. The installation titled ‘A Squashed Space’ is an immersive and playful expression of these historical references, pairing Toogood’s restless experimentation with Poltrona Frau’s unrivalled leathercraft. Admire the hand-painted folk-art motifs on the flagship store windows as you explore Toogood’s distinctive designs, including products from the Squash Collection such as armchairs, mirrors, tables and rugs celebrating a unique fusion of contemporary creativity and timeless leathercraft. Toogood’s ‘A Squashed Space’ leather room can be viewed from the street, a curious, inviting area that is designed to be experienced from both outside and in. The leather panels showcase a patchwork of Poltrona Frau ColorSphere® hues, specifically Panna, Shara, Steel Blue, Mineral Blue, Siam, and Garnet, as selected by the designer. Expertly hand-crafted by Italian artisans, the leather used in ‘A Squashed Space’ is entirely Impact Less; this innovative initiative by Poltrona Frau uses renewable energy sources and a pioneering tanning process that significantly reduces water and chemical use. Sustainability was a key consideration also when creating the installation structure, designed for easy assembly and disassembly, allowing it to be transported and displayed at various locations efficiently.
