An installation at Pentagram’s Notting Hill studio featuring insights into the design process behind the recent Liberty fabric collections designed by Karel Martens, Harry Pearce and the Liberty Fabric Design Team.
A longstanding collaborator and friend of Harry Pearce, Karel was introduced to the Liberty team by Harry, and was then invited to curate a capsule collection of designs for SS24. This follows on from Liberty Letters, a sell-out capsule collection of 21 products including bags, scarves and a range of fabrics, which was the result of a collaboration between Harry and the Liberty fabric design team in 2023. In the spirit of Liberty both designers were given free reign to create patterns that will live forever in the iconic fabric archive. As part of the installation, visitors can watch a film on Karel and his work, and pick up a copy of a limited edition newspaper designed by Pentagram. On Thursday 12 September there will be a special evening talk at Pentagram’s Notting Hill studio featuring Karel Martens, Harry Pearce, Liberty’s Managing Director Andrea Petochi and Mary Ann Dunkley, Design Director Liberty Fabrics & Product.
