What is the value of design?

Wednesday June 11th 18:00-19:00 Is design a luxury or a public good? Mariana Mazzucato, Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value—renowned for redefining how governments measure value beyond GDP—joins Gus Casely-Hayford, director of V&A East, a new institution that seeks to transform the public role of museums, to debate the role and value of creativity in a market economy. Drawing from Mazzucato’s groundbreaking work Mission Economy and The Value of Everything and Casely-Hayford’s cultural leadership in his current role and previously at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, they unpick how we should value design and how it can be deployed to transform society for the better? Location: The Great Hall, King's College, London This edition of the Global Design Forum is supported by our Digital Media Partner, STIR.
