Liberty has been a destination for art, craft and design since it opened its atrium doors 148 years ago. This LDF, the iconic store will present a range of design collections and events that celebrate traditional and innovative crafts from across the world.
This year, to celebrate the creative spirit of our craft community, we will be hosting a dynamic panel discussion and immersive workshop to showcase some of our most inspiring makers. Giving Visibility to a Global Craft Community – Panel Talk Monday 18th September | 6pm-7pm East Atrium on 1 Celebrating the creative spirit of its design community, Liberty presents a dynamic panel discussion between disruptive wholesale marketplace, Powered by People and two of its makers. Join us for an evening of perspectives on how technology can drive positive change, connect the global craft community to commerce and demonstrate tangible sustainability in its value chains. Hear from Powered by People Co-founder, Alison Phillips, Kenyan-based founder of Siafu Home, Gladys Macharia and Eliza Babarczy of Itza Wood, based in Guatemala. Freehand Embroidery Masterclass with Siafu Home x Nicole Chui Tuesday 19th September | 6pm-7:30 Heritage Suite on 3 Liberty invites you to a mindful and creative evening alongside Kenyan hand loomed textile brand, Siafu Home. Hosted by founder Gladys Macharia and London-based hand embroidery artist Nicole Chui, learn how to create illustrative designs and drawings using a needle and thread on your own table textiles. All attendees will leave with an understanding of freehand embroidery, working on their own beautiful and functional Saifu napkin, for a table piece that is truly one of a kind. The interactive session will explore the possibilities of embroidery and how mindful craft can have a positive impact on your everyday wellbeing.
