Head to Merchants Way, a pedestrian pathway which runs adjacent to the New Covent Garden Flower Market and Food Exchange in Nine Elms, to partake in drop-in creative workshops based around how nature inspires day-to-day life, objects and habits at meal times! NB. Workshop 20/09 moved to The Alchemist, 1 Ponton Rd *
Celebrate the rich horticultural history, and how nature and food have long been a source for design and creativity in Battersea with fun flora and fauna 'dining' inspired workshops, popping up in the alcoves along this brightly coloured public pathway. Saturday 16th September, 2-3pm & 3.30-4.30pm. Always wanted to get your hands around clay and create your own tableware? Join a pottery workshop with local Battersea ceramic studio Muni London and learn to make a plate or mug, using slab or pinch pot techniques, then decorate them with imprinted leaves and flowers for that special botanic touch! All tuition and materials will be provided for you, but you are most welcome to bring any flowers or plants that have a special meaning for you and that you would like to imprint on your plate. Your pieces can be fired and you will be able to collect it 3 to 5 weeks after the workshop at Muni's studio. Wednesday 20th September 3-6pm ** NB. Due to extreme weather this workshop will now take place at nearby restaurant The Alchemist, 1 Ponton Rd, SW11 7BD ** Join floral artist Elaine Duigenan for a beautiful Botanical Textile Printing Workshop that will teach you how to print your very own fabric table napkin. Materials and guidance will be provided throughout by Elaine, who has been working with pressed flowers since her art residency at Keats House in Hampstead, all you have to do is turn up with artistic enthusiasm!
