On Display, Spero Furniture's Alag Collection- The Final Piece
ALaG: Of ALloys and Grains
The ALaG furniture collection is a bold exploration of material harmony, blending the raw elegance of wood grains with the industrial allure of alloys. The name itself is an amalgamation of Alloy and Grains, reflecting the core philosophy of the collection - contrasting elements unified in contemporary design.
Each piece in the ALaG collection is as unique as an individual, carrying its own distinct personality. Just like people, these creations are a blend of diverse traits - organic, warm, and grounded like wood; resilient, sleek, and modern like metal. Together, they form a perfect balance, celebrating individuality and diversity. ALaG transforms furniture into functional art, making every piece a statement of originality and character, ideal for those who embrace the beauty of uniqueness in their living spaces.
We are displaying a smaller version of our favourite " Bench with a Silver Lining" and " Dee Coffee Table", which is the final product in our ALaG Collection.
Bench with a silver lining :
The Bench with a Silver Lining is built on a single structural idea: rather than legs meeting a seat from below, they pass directly through it, locking into place above the surface in a small, visible act of engineering. Cast aluminium slabs are set between solid white ash members along each leg, introducing a "silver lining", a literal seam of metal within the wood, that catches the light differently depending on where you stand.
The entire piece is finished in a deep, natural charcoal, which unifies wood and metal into a single tonal register while still letting their material contrast read clearly on close inspection. Conceived as a modular chain, the design's rhythm of wood-aluminium-wood is built to repeat, meaning the bench's language could theoretically extend to any length required, each added unit carrying the same quiet structural conviction as the last.
Dee Coffee Table-
A sheet of 3mm aluminium, cut and bent entirely by hand, falls from the edge of the charcoal wood top like fabric caught in motion. Every fold is left visible, it is imperfect, deliberate, and entirely its own.
A single spray of chemical and an indigo-infused oil give the metal its deep blue-grey skin. It slides into a slit in the wooden top, while the familiar aluminium and wood details of Alag continue through the surface. And then Dee hides something.
From one side, there is only the wave. The three straight, interlocking legs disappear completely, revealing themselves only when you move around the table.
Dee holds onto everything that belongs to Alag- charcoal wood, silver, straight lines and then breaks the certainty of it. You see one thing. You move. And suddenly, there is something else.
With " Dee Coffee Table" our collection is complete. And perhaps that is where "Curiosity" begins.
