Tender Maps is a gathering of poets, painters, jazz musicians, analogue experimental filmmakers, mark-makers, clay-workers, textile workers, coracle-weavers, bat-sound recordists, river guardians and more. They tell stories of renewal, repair and revolution.
Tender Maps is an exhibition at SITE by a collective of artists featuring quilt, barricade, text, sound, film and performance. It's an experiment in cartography, an attempt at navigating the ecological crisis with compassionate persistence. The collage of works sensitively considers each participant’s work, culminating in a collective imaginary of the post-Anthropocene. The exhibition brings together artists from The New School of the Anthropocene: an experiment in counter-nihilism, dedicated to addressing bio-political emergency, climate justice and the cultural renegotiation of the relationship between the human and more-than-human. Daily opening times 10th-20th September - 11am-7pm Events: 16th September Tender Maps: Late Night Opening, 6-9pm Opportunity to view 'Tender Maps' exhibition in the company of some of the contributing artists, with refreshments in a relaxed evening atmosphere. 18th September Tender Maps: A night of artists' film, screenings and readings, 6.45-9pm An inspiring evening of film, screenings and original live readings. Blending ecology, artists' film, poetry, performance and spoken word, this event will include both analogue and digital short films and original works to accompany our group exhibition. 20th September Tender Maps: Listening, 3-7.30pm Drop-in listening event featuring the quarterly sonic almanac, 'I want to eat the earth’, from the New School of the Anthropocene. Each episode is created for each of the year's solstices days, enacting on their own rhythms and textures on those who inhabit the earth. The shows are curated and produced by Stephen Shiell. The listening event features an exclusive sit-down playing of the Autumn solstice show between 6.30 – 7.30pm. Free Entry
