'The Sun, My Heart' is an evocative installation by Marjan van Aubel, a designer renowned for solar innovation. Inspired by her Sunne solar lights, this piece uses specially modified lighting to symbolise our vital connection to the sun.
Commissioned by LDF, which is supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the immersive experience aims to synchronise visitors' hearts with solar rhythms, expanding awareness of our relationship with this celestial body. A constellation of lights mimics the sun's daily cycle, complemented by a soundscape based on NASA's solar recordings. The installation triggers the brain's theta waves, produced during deep relaxation, inviting reflection about our relationship with the sun and solar energy's potential. Van Aubel's work bridges sustainability, design, and technology, challenging us to envision a sun-powered future. By fostering an emotional connection, the installation embodies the studio's mission to spark desire for change through innovative design, promoting the transition to sustainable energy sources.
