Located on the Chelsea College of Arts’ Parade Ground, Vert is a sustainable structure rendered in sustainable red-oak glulam that proposes an innovative architectural solution for cooling cities and increasing urban biodiversity.

Created in association with the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), and designed by industrial design practice Diez Office (in partnership with urban greening specialists OMC°C), the installation features a biodegradable net with a curated selection of around 20 plant species. This living ecosystem is designed to support biodiversity, as well as enriching the urban environment and provide a sheltered space where visitors to the Festival can gather – all while asking pertinent questions about urban development, ecological resilience and community engagement. Vert will remain in place for a total of four weeks following London Design Festival.
