Wild Moon - Reconstructing imperfection
Partner Programme
16 — 20 Sept 2024
Craft, Art / Collectibles
Stephanie attempts to establish the connection between herself and the nature through her works. Using wild clay as one of the main material, the process rebuilds the connection between the artist and the earth, and she wishes to expand this connection with the audiences.
Through experimenting with metal waste and ceramic shards from Stoke-on-Trent, she also aims to establish a sustainable practice and with the philosophy to treasure what was found from the land. Inspired by the form of traditional Korean moon jars, the artist attempted to re-create the form with a different perspective. The series ranges from a typical Korean moon jar with a white delicate appearance, to the use of wild clay and waste metals. By bringing out the contrast between perfection and imperfection, she wanted to reconstruct the beauty of the form in different ways.
