Digitally designed and 3D printed in clay installation by Aneliya Stoyanova

Recently graduated with an MA in Ceramics from Staffordshire University, the artist explores the future of craft amidst technological and AI advancements, challenging perceptions and constraints. Anny’s research involved using Virtual Reality (VR) to sculpt models and manipulate CAD files, and 3D printing in clay to bring them to life. Inspired by nature, organic forms, and Gaudí’s architecture, the installation features the ‘Dahlia’ range and the ‘Peak’. Drawing from the rugged beauty of mountain peaks from her own hiking experience, the ‘Peak’ embodies the challenges and triumphs encountered on the journey to the summit. This piece serves as a metaphor for perseverance and the relentless pursuit of goals. The ‘Dahlia’ range, inspired by dahlias from the artist’s garden, merges natural beauty with digital craftsmanship. Each piece reflects the flower’s complexity, created through digital coiling. The use of Parian body clay and small lights enhances the delicate beauty and translucency of the models, accentuates their intricate details. Anny’s work advocates for harmony with nature, fellow humans and modern technology inviting dialogue on the balance of power between humans and the natural world.
