83 Rivington Street is transformed into a vibrant creative hub with the 'Proof of Concept' exhibition as its centrepiece. Showcasing the work of 10 emerging multidisciplinary designers, the show presents final designs alongside prototypes, sketches, and models, revealing the evolution from concept to realisation.
From 20-22 September, 83 Rivington Street buzzes as a dynamic venue within the Shoreditch Design Triangle for this year’s London Design Festival. At the heart of this transformation lies the "Proof of Concept" exhibition, a captivating showcase featuring the work of ten multidisciplinary designers and studios. Encompassing furniture, product design, ceramics, textiles, and architecture, the exhibition immerses visitors in intricate and fascinating design processes. Each studio unveils a final design accompanied by 'proof of concept' prototypes, sketches, models, tests, and other engaging development artefacts. This exhibition offers a unique platform for innovative self-initiated designs, products that didn’t make it to market, and existing designs, shedding light on the extensive development journey behind each creation. Participating designers include David Irwin, SmithMatthias, Atelier Thirty Four, Daniel Schofield, Jan Hendzel, Emma Louise Payne, and Studio Mutt among others. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a pop-up restaurant by the culinary visionaries from Newcastle’s celebrated Cook House and Long Friday. This initiative introduces their fresh, casual, all-day dining concept to London, emphasising hospitality and conviviality. To enrich the experience further, UK furniture brands Origin and Deadgood curate a selection of their products, seamlessly blending design with functionality and comfort in the restaurant and outdoor spaces.
