'Reclaimed: The Silo Collection' is a pottery exhibition bringing together sustainable design and modern craft through experiments with an innovative glaze made from repurposed wine bottles. Explore ceramics from 22 London-based potters finding beauty in waste.
At the heart of ‘Reclaimed’ lies the work of ceramicist Lucia Ocejo, who has transformed used wine bottles from Silo, a renowned zero-waste restaurant, into a distinctive ceramic glaze. Visitors can follow the glaze-making process from bottle to kiln, alongside a diverse range of Silo-glazed ceramics from 22 London-based potters. From functional designs to hand-crafted sculptures, the exhibition promises to engage both design enthusiasts and sustainability advocates. As part of the event, Douglas McMaster, Silo's founder, will host a panel on finding beauty and utility in waste. He will be joined by Haeckels founder Dom Bridges, sustainable architecture leaders Nina Woodcroft and Ana Rita Martins, and Notpla founders Rodrigo García González and Pierre-Yves Paslier. The discussion will explore the importance of sustainable practices in design and everyday life. ‘Reclaimed: The Silo Collection’ is more than just an exhibition; it’s a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and the power of communal collaboration. By showcasing this collection, The White Building and Studio Omelette want to provoke conversation on the future of design and the role of sustainability in shaping it.
