Learn about the mental wellness benefits of crafts and creativity. Then unleash your inner fashion designer in this fun mindful craft workshop. Experience the joy of creativity by engaging in different textile arts, such as sewing and decorating fabrics.

You may be familiar with social craft events like sip 'n' paint, rug making, and pottery. This event will add an educational component to the chill vibes. WHAT TO EXPECT You'll get to learn about the mind and body connection and how it relates to your nervous system. Then experience the therapeutic power of textiles arts while embarking on a journey to the state of FLOW. You don’t need any prior knowledge of sewing or design. Here you can learn some basic sewing skills or how to utilize different mediums for decorating textiles. Then you’re free to create for the afternoon. There will be various projects to choose from. Materials will be provided at the session. However, you are free to bring a piece of fabric that you fancy or an article of clothing that you may wish to upcycle. This event is appropriate for adults and youth age 10+ WHY COME ALONG? Creative expression is backed by science as one of the top ways to regulate stress. Social engagement is also on the list for best strategies for channeling stress. This session will offer the opportunity to express yourself in a social environment. Focusing your energy on creativity can put you in a restorative state of FLOW, a state one can get from activities like meditation or jogging. If you are new to crafting, you will kick start your journey to learning new sewing and design skills. Bringing your designs into fruition can be joyous and foster a sense of pride. You can take home your own masterpiece, as it stands as a reminder that you can manifest your creative vision. WHO'S FASCILITATING THE EVENT? This session will be led by Dr. Tiffany Rice. She has worked as a mental health therapist and university lecturer for the last thirteen years. She is also the fashion designer behind Mylk and Honey Clothier, a body positive swim and resort wear brand. The brand has a pilar of fostering self-love and self-worth in the people she dresses. She has been teaching both adults and children fashion design and sewing since 2019. She began her sewing and fashion design journey in 2011, while she was in graduate school. She witnessed, firsthand, the power of creativity in channeling stress and transforming her self-esteem during an intensely stressful period in her life. WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT TAKE PLACE? The event will take place on Saturday the 21st of September as part of the London Design Festival. It will run from 12:00pm-7:00pm. The Location will be in the Bankside community at: Arch 23, 45 Southwark St London SE1 9HP I will provide light refreshments like tea and biscuits. You will also be able to purchase food from the abundance of restaurants and cafes that neighbor the venue, including Borough Market. The neighboring Tube stations include Southwark, Borough, and London Bridge. WHERE IS MY OPTIONAL DONATION GOING? This event is free of cost. However, donations are welcome via the Eventbrite page. All donations will go towards the cost of materials. This event is for individuals and families; adults and youth aged 10+.
