London and Bangalore-based Tiipoi launch their new collection of cast concrete pieces to add to their much-loved collection 'SIMENT', an ode to Indian water towers and a play on Bangalore's brutalist conrete infrastructure. Expect to see these long-awaited pieces in an immersive display at 14 Cavendish Place.
Founded by Spandana Gopal in 2013, Tiipoi is based in London with a workshop in India. The studio prides itself on marrying function and ornamentation, industrial design, and craft. Cast in concrete, this particular collection renders functional architecture decorative while maintaining them as purposeful objects. SIMENT miniaturizes features like pipework, ladders, doorways, windows, and stairs, transforming them into evocative details. This brutalist collection has been inspired by Bangalore's urban water towers and the ubiquitous flyover infrastructure that has increasingly dominated the city in the last decade. The collection has been designed by Tiipoi designers Wilson Astley and Andre Pereira.
