Discover the artist whose colourful paintings have inspired this season’s new Wallace Sewell A/W2024 scarf collection. The in-store launch will display original paintings by Fred Ingrams alongside the new textiles, detailing the creative process of its design team.

Wallace Sewell is a UK-Based, British design studio, established by Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell. The studio seamlessly fuses traditional craftsmanship with modern production, proudly upholding its commitment to manufacturing exclusively in the British Isles. They have worked together for over thirty years and continue to design in partnership with a strong creative spark that is ever-evolving, always distinctive and consistently recognisable. Combining innovation with practical solutions, Wallace Sewell are known for their use of colour, structure, and yarn in surprising geometric formats. Often inspired by paintings, they create individual contemporary fabrics which are made into homeware, soft furnishings and an annual scarf collection. Wallace Sewell work from their studio and shop in Clerkenwell, where their full retail collection is on display. For London Design Festival, there will be an exclusive exhibition of paintings by British artist, Fred Ingrams and will be launching the 2024 scarf collection that was inspired by his work. Visitors will be able to see the design process and understand how the team studied Ingrams’s paintings compositionally and tonally, looking at the juxtaposition of colour, light, and weight which was then translated into complex woven pieces. Fred Ingrams worked as a graphic designer and art director and now spends his time painting the Fens, north Norfolk and Lincolnshire, and the Flow Country, Northern Scotland. Ingrams is interested in the idea of the sublime, and although his brightly coloured landscapes are often painted in nature, they seek to explore and record how people, governments and societies have shaped the way we think about and inhabit the natural world. Come along on Wednesday 18th September 6-8pm to hear artist Fred Ingrams in conversation with Harriet Wallace-Jones, where art, creativity, inspirations and more will be discussed, surrounded by colour! There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience, late night shopping and Fred will be signing copies of his new book Flat Earth. Fred Ingrams in conversation with Harriet Wallace-Jones is a free, but ticketed event. Please visit www.wallacesewell.com to book your ticket. Wednesday 18th September 6-8pm In-store exhibition runs from Sat 14 until Saturday 21st September. Tuesday – Friday 10am – 5pm Saturday 11am – 5pm
